Quality Enhancement Plan

As a part of the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on College (SACSCOC) accreditation process, Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) is required to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The QEP provides an opportunity for LIT to improve the student learning environment and academic success while accomplishing the mission of the institution.

The requirements for the QEP are outlined by the Core Requirement 2.12 which states, “The institution has developed an acceptable Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) that includes an institutional process for identifying key issues emerging from institutional assessment and focuses on learning outcomes and/or the environment supporting student learning and accomplishing the mission of the institution.”

Goals

The goals of the Students Taking Education Personally Project are

  • To improve the success of at-risk students in select programs by improving the student learning environment
  • To select and retain qualified participants for the STEP Project
  • To ensure the success of STEP Project participants in their chosen field
  • To use survey data to design support services to enhance the student learning environment
Objectives

The objectives of the STEP Project include:

  • Students participating in the STEP Project will receive academic support services designed to increase success and enhance the student learning environment.
  • Students participating in the STEP Project will receive career support services designed to increase success and enhance the student learning environment.
  • Students in the Process Operating Technology and Instrumentation Technology programs who meet the criteria will be recruited for the STEP Project.
  • Students participating in the STEP Project will maintain satisfactory academic progress.
