The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Utility Line program will host the annual Lineman Rodeo from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Frank Robinson Center, 1355 W. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Silsbee, TX 77656. The event is free and open to the public.

The Lineman Rodeo is a day-long competition in which graduating students perform utility line challenges using what they have learned in their courses at LIT.

"The rodeo allows students to showcase their skills, audition for career opportunities with industry members in attendance and compete against their classmates for prizes," said Leigh Burks, Silsbee Coordinator.

The event garners support from local workforce in the lineman industry including Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative, Bright Star Solutions, Inc, Newtron Beaumont, LLC, ISC Constructors, LLC, and event sponsors Quanta Services, Inc. and Entergy.

"Our industry partners come out to cheer on our next generation of lineman and many times our students will also receive employment offers after networking with them at this event,” said Burks.
