Course Description: NATURE OF THE COURSE CONTENT (A description or brief outline of what is contained in the course): 1. Instruction in performing a proper vehicle inspection 2. Instruction in driver¿s hours of service rules and regulations 3. Instruction in properly completing a driver¿s daily log 4. Instruction in performing any in-cab air brake test 5. Instruction in the shifting methods of various transmissions 6. Instruction in the safe operation of a commercial vehicle in various traffic situations 7. Proper braking techniques METHODS OF EVALUATION (How students are evaluated or graded): Students will: 1. be graded as they perform an actual hands-on vehicle inspection 2. be graded on their ability to properly complete a daily log 3. be graded and evaluated as they perform an actual driving test with the instructor 4. receive a certificate of completion once they have passed the Class ¿B¿ CDL driving test with the Texas Department of Public Safety and received the actual Class ¿B¿ CDL license STUDENT OUTCOMES (Upon completion of the course, what students will understand or be able to do): Student will: 1. Perform an actual vehicle inspection and complete required paperwork 2. Properly complete a driver¿s daily log 3. Perform an in-cab air brakes test on a commercial vehicle 4. Safely and efficiently shift a multi-speed transmission 5. Safely and efficiently operate a commercial vehicle in various traffic situations 6. Pass the Class ¿B¿ driving test with the Texas Department of Public Safety
