The LIT Assessment Journey
Over the past year, under the guidance of Dr. Chris van der Kaay, Lamar Institute of Technology has redesigned its assessment process. While assessment and planning remain closely interrelated, they are now distinct processes. This session will provide an overview of the revised assessment framework, with a focused discussion on PLO/SLO mapping, assessment, and analysis. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their Annual Learning Outcome Assessment and Assessment Map for personalized feedback.
Who Should Attend:
This session is highly recommended for Academic Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, and Lead Faculty. It is also suitable for employees interested in advancing into these roles or gaining a deeper understanding of the assessment process.
Session Dates and Times:
To accommodate varying schedules, this session will be offered multiple times.

AQC Subcommittee Training
The Academic Quality Committee (AQC) is a faculty-led body responsible for ensuring academic excellence through program reviews and learning outcomes assessments. The committee evaluates whether institutional programs effectively achieve student learning outcomes, uphold academic integrity, serve community needs, and utilize institutional resources efficiently. A designated subcommittee conducts mid-year and end-of-year reviews of PLO and SLO assessments. Dr. Chris van der Kaay will lead this session, outlining the review process and subcommittee responsibilities.
Who Should Attend:
Members of the AQC Assessment Subcommittee.

The Teaching and Learning Center is developing a resource library to support faculty and staff. The collection will include books and materials on pedagogy, advising, curriculum development, assessment, and other topics that promote effective teaching, learning, and student success.

- STARLINK - Since its founding, STARLINK has been committed to empowering student success and providing exceptional professional development to higher education communities. STARLINK provides courses that maintain academic rigor, technical knowledge and skill sets which drive positive growth. STARLINK offers members a personalized dashboard to track training and 24/7 access to over 200 hours of professional development training through its eLibrary. Lamar Institute of Technology is registered with STARLINK and all LIT members may register for access.
- Vector Training - Vector training is used to present many of the mandatory trainings required across the campus. Your Vector training log-in also provides access to several training courses that can be taken at any time. These courses include topics such as Safety, Skills for Enhancing Student Success, Human Resources, Employment Practices, and more.
- TLC Organization in BlackBoard Learn - The TLC maintains an Organization in Blackboard that is available to all faculty and staff. Information sheets, handouts, and videos from past trainings can be found within the organization.
