BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology will receive a $60,000 donation from Newtron, LLC to purchase a utility line truck in a special check presentation on at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at Newtron’s office located at 1905 Industrial Dr. in Nederland.
 
Dr. Lonnie L. Howard will receive the check on behalf of LIT.
 
“This generous donation couldn’t come at a more strategic time, since this funding will help replace one of our older trucks,” Howard said. “This will also help any Utility Line Technology student wanting to obtain the CDL while training. We are extremely proud of our 100 percent job placement rate after graduation that this program bolsters. LIT will continue to provide quality workers to one of the most in-demand professions.”
