BEAUMONT— Lamar Institute of Technology was named one of 15 Best Trade Schools in Texas by the World Scholarship Forum.

Ranked number eight, LIT was chosen, according to the selection criteria, because “these programs are focused on benefits offered and career outlook. We also considered the quality of education, average earnings of graduates, accreditation and several other relevant factors.”

Worldscholarshipforum.com added, “The Institute features certificate programs in fields including healthcare, energy, technology and public safety, (while) popular majors include Lab Technician, Instrumentation Technician and Police and Criminal Science.

“Each (featured) trade school program typically features a curriculum that has been developed and continually maintained to match industry needs. This is achieved through close connections to employers, professional associations and manufacturers,” the website stated.“These schools provide hands-on training and skills that can be used in the workplace immediately upon completion of a Certification Program or Associates Degree.”

LIT was also recently ranked number five for Community Colleges in Texas, and in the top 10 percent for Community Colleges in America by national educational website Niche.com for 2020.

LIT President Dr. Lonnie L. Howard said, “We are truly humbled to receive this honor from World Scholarship Forum, especially at a time when all of us are looking for hope during the COVID-19 pandemic. As our list of honors and accolades swell at LIT, so does our pride.”
