44 SCH including Anatomy and Physiology, Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Care, Health Data Content and Structure, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Medical Terminology, Coding and Classification Systems, Reimbursement Methodologies and Advanced Coding.


3. How Long Does it Take to Become a Coder/Biller?

Program classes begin in the summer of each year and will take five semesters to complete the program. Applicants can begin in the fall semester, which may add an additional semester due to the program being a lock-step program.


4. How Much Does a Health Information Technician Make?

Coders in an outpatient setting or physician’s office earn between $12- $18/ hour depending on facility and whether you hold your certification.
