The Department of Technology offers a wide variety of programs at both the certificate and associate of applied science levels. Programs include: Advanced Engine Technology, Computer Drafting Technology, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology, Industrial Mechanics, Instrumentation Technology, Process Operating Technology, Restaurant/Institutional Food Management, Utility Line Technology, and Welding Technology. Each technology program is designed to prepare students for jobs in high demand areas with “real world” training. Technology students get a true hands-on experience in the classroom. Lamar Institute of Technology also requires students to register for the College Success Skills Course in their first semester. The course is designed to provide students with a thorough orientation to the campus, postsecondary education, and the classroom skills necessary for success. Students are also required to complete the WorkKeys™ test when they are enrolled in a capstone course.
