Dr. Maegan Collins, General Education and Development Department Chair, was named a 2024 Pioneering Women Honoree at the organization’s annual luncheon on August 1.

Every year, Pioneering Women honors seven community advocates to recognize them for their contributions and efforts. Outside of her work at LIT, Collins has a passion for community service and serves as a member of the Junior League of Beaumont, Wish Granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana, Dancing with the Stars of Southeast Texas, active serve member of Encounter Church, First Gen Connections Advisory Committee at Lamar University, Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA), Leadership Beaumont Alumni Association and more.

“I am very honored to be recognized as a 2024 Pioneering Women honoree. Pioneering Women is an amazing organization that is dedicated to empowering and uplifting individuals by connecting them to essential educational and community resources,” said Collins. “It is a privilege to be acknowledged by an organization that strives to make such a positive impact on the lives of women in Southeast Texas. I want to also congratulate the other honorees and sincerely thank them for their commitment to our community. “
