The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Foundation announces the 2024 ExxonMobil LIT Foundation Golf Tournament held on October 18, 2024, had its most profitable event in history. With the support of 20 sponsors and 65 teams, over $140,000 was raised for student scholarships.
“We are truly grateful for the support of ExxonMobil and all those who have contributed to the Foundation’s mission of making higher education attainable for the next generation,” said Krista Hunter, Executive Director of Development and Foundation.
New this year, the LIT Foundation hosted the “Swing for Scholarships” social on October 17 at 5 Under Golf Center. Attendees participated in a hole-in-one challenge and mingled with industry partners over refreshments. The top 12 qualifiers in the challenge earned a chance to win $1,000,000, by attempting to make a hole-in-one at the ExxonMobil LIT Foundation Golf Tournament the following day.
For 35 years, ExxonMobil and other LIT partners have helped coordinate this golf tournament to benefit our local community and the increasing need for skills and technology training. Continued energy industry investments in Southeast Texas are driving demand for a skilled, technical workforce, and Lamar Institute of Technology plays a major role in providing an education for skilled employees in the Southeast Texas area.
“We are grateful to work closely with LIT to help position students for success. The funds raised through this event will have a tremendous impact on LIT students and get them ready to enter the workforce,” said Ryan Vick, Beaumont Polyethylene Plant Process Manager.
