The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Foundation will host the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Bayou Din Golf Course. Tee times are at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Funds from the golf tournament will benefit the LIT Foundation and student scholarships, many of whom could not continue their education without scholarships.

“The golf tournament is our biggest fundraiser of the year, but it’s really about bringing our community together for our students,” said Krista Hunter, LIT Executive Director of Development and Foundation. “Business partners and community members can have a great time on the course, while helping provide scholarships.”

For 36 years, LIT Foundation has partnered with ExxonMobil and other LIT partners to coordinate this fundraiser to benefit our local community and address the increasing need for skills and technology training.

Hunter says that because of the success of past golf tournaments, the Foundation will be able to award $140,000 in scholarships from this upcoming golf tournament alone.

“We’re investing in our students and helping remove some of the financial barriers that can stand between a student and their education,” Hunter said. “Seeing money raised at an event years ago turn into scholarships for students today is really rewarding.”

Sponsorships and spots are still available for the afternoon tee time. To reserve, contact Krista Hunter, Executive Director of Development and Foundation, at 409-839-2956 or klhunter@lit.edu.
