On behalf of the Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas, the Lamar Institute of Technology Respiratory Care Program was the recipient of a new RESPOND ventilator, stand and battery from CorVent Medical.

The ventilator donated to our program utilizes the most current technology developed during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Stacy Taylor, Respiratory Care Program Director. “Having new technology is of great benefit to our students to provide the most advanced care to patients and our community.”

The device is innovative in design, and is intended to be a simple, lightweight option, that requires little maintenance and is convenient to set up.

"We are committed to empowering rising respiratory therapist (RT) students,” stated Richard Walsh, CEO, CorVent™ Medical. “Hands-on training is critical to RT students' success, ahead of clinical training. We are committed to supporting RT growth with key donations of the RESPOND® ventilator.”

In addition to the donation, Todd Burke, Area Vice President of CorVent Medical, and Joe Lewis, Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas President, led students in an interactive, hands-on, lesson to demonstrate how to use the device. Students were able to try it out for themselves and ask questions.

“We would like to express our gratitude to these partners for visiting LIT to present this donation,” said Taylor. “This technology will keep our students on the cutting edge of advancements in the field and give them hands-on experience to be a step ahead when they graduate.”
