What is Lamar Link?

Lamar Link is a joint program between Lamar University (LU) and Lamar Institute Technology (LIT). Lamar Link equips students with comprehensive support from both institutions. It is an affordable program that will give students the opportunity to enroll at LU.
 
BENEFITS
  • Affordability: As a Texas Resident the average cost of 12 credit hours, at LIT, is $1,801; which includes tuition & fees.
  • Transferability: Earn an associate degree, become core complete, and accrue 18 credit hours in your major.
  • Lamar LINK Scholarship: Upon transfer to LU you have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship dedicated to transfer students only.
  • Enjoy comprehensive support, and student engagement activities from both institutions:
    • Free tickets to many LU athletic events; attend concerts and cultural events; and much more!
    • Possible eligibility for Study Abroad programs.
    • Access to participate in LU intramural sports and LU’s state-of-the-art fitness center.
    • Access library privileges to LU's Mary and John Gray Library.
    • Access to on-campus living quarters in LU's Gentry residence hall.
  • Transfer Support​: A dedicated team from LU & LIT will help you every step of the way.
APPLY
Applying to LamarLink is easy! Just follow the steps below:
  • Visit ApplyTexas and choose Lamar Institute of Technology.
  • Select "Associates Degree" option.
  • Select "LamarLink" under Major Code.
  • Choose your program of study.
  • Complete and submit your application.
*If you already have an application in your ApplyTexas account, you may simply "Copy" the application and update the information to reflect your new choices. Get started today.
 
TRANSFER PROCESS
We have your back! LAMAR LINK, ensures a smooth transition to LU.
  1. Meet with your dedicated LIT advisor, Karina Salgado, throughout completion of your degree.
  2. A semester prior to graduating from LIT,complete the LU Transfer Form.
  3. Upon reception of your form, Karlee Ogden, LU Link Admission Counselor, and, Leslie Hederman, LU Transfer Advisor, will walk you through every step of the way.
  4. Apply for the Lamar Link Scholarship before February 1 priority deadline.
TRANSFER TUESDAY
If you are currently pursuing an AA/AS, want to get a BA/BS at LU, but are not enrolled in the Link program, know that you can enroll in Lamar Link at any time.

Transfer Tuesdays are informational sessions where you can meet with Karlee Ogden, LU Link Admission Counselor, during Transfer Tuesday, or LU departmental representatives from your major. Transfer Tuesday offers the perfect setting for you to decide if you want to opt in.
