2. Health Information Technician Education Requirements.

60 SCH including Anatomy and Physiology, Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Care, Health Data Content and Structure, Health Care Statistics, Quality Improvement, Supervision, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Medical Terminology, Coding and Classification Systems, Reimbursement Methodologies and Advanced Coding.


3. How Long Does it Take to Become a Health Information Technician or RHIT?

Program classes begin in the summer of each year and will take 19 months to complete the program.  Eligible graduates can apply to sit for the RHIT certification exam in the last semester of the program.


4. How Much Does a Health Information Technician Make?

HIT personnel who have successfully sat for and passed the Registered Health Information Technician Certification (RHIT) make between $18 - $25/ hour.
