Elections
Senate elections shall be held in May in each department under the supervision of the Committee on Nominations. Full-time (benefit eligible) non-executive staff members below the rank of Assistant Vice-President, excluding Academic Department Chairs, may be eligible to vote if they have completed six months service at Lamar Institute of Technology prior to May 1. These eligible voters shall constitute the voting staff. Elections will be determined by a simple majority vote.
Candidates running for President must have served at least one year on the Staff Senate as an officer or representative.

Term of Office
Newly elected officers will serve for two years. Terms will begin the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Fall semester after election, through August 31st two years later.
A department representative may serve three consecutive terms. After a lapse of one year, that same individual is again eligible for election as a representative.
The Member at Large/Past President is required to serve a one year term and may, at their discretion, voluntarily serve a second year.

Qualifications
