LIT Solicits Survey Responses for Nursing Program Application
6/26/2023
Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) is in the process of completing an application with the Texas Board of Nursing to begin an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program. The application to begin a nursing program requires a survey of potential students; LIT requests all interested community members to complete the brief survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LIT_Potential_Associate_Degree_in_Nursing_Student_Survey
“We are asking anyone who is considering nursing as a first, or even second, career choice to please complete the survey,” said Dr. LeAnn Chisolm-Springer, program director. “Our goal at LIT is to provide workforce-ready, clinically excellent and compassionate graduate nurses who can help to decrease the critical shortage of nurses in our area. Your input is vital to helping us develop a program which meets the needs of our community.”
The proposed associate degree is the entry-level degree required to be licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in Texas. The two-year program will prepare students for licensure as an RN and offer non-traditional class, lab and clinical times to accommodate the busy schedules of working Southeast Texans. LIT is currently constructing a new building on the corner of E. Lavaca and MLK Blvd. to house the program, as well as the pharmacy technology and workforce programs.
