Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) partnered with the Texas Workforce Commission to host a Regional Jobs & Education for Texas (JET) Grant Check Presentation. The JET program provides grants to eligible entities to purchase and install equipment necessary for the development of career and technical education courses or programs that lead to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree in a high-demand occupation.

The presentation consisted of the awarding of 12 grants, totaling over three million dollars to seven recipients, including Lamar State College Orange, Lamar State College Port Arthur, Woodville ISD (in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology and Lee College), Deweyville ISD (in partnership with LIT), Spurger ISD (in partnership with LIT), Newton ISD (in partnership with LIT), and Jasper ISD (in partnership with LIT and Lamar State College Port Arthur). In the first year of the grants, the funding will help train 925 students in high demand occupations in Petroleum System Operators, HVAC, Healthcare, Transportation, Electricians, Plumbers/Pipefitters, and Welding.
