The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Dual Credit Department hosted a signing day for Ehrhart School’s first class of freshman early college high school students on June 20, 2024.

“We are honored to be in partnership with Lamar Institute of Technology,” said Kristin Torrez, Ehrhart Early College High School Principal. “This partnership allows our students to experience a more rigorous academic environment and better prepare for their future.”

Teachers, administrators, family and friends gathered at the LIT Multi-Purpose Center for Signing Day to celebrate the 21 students who made the commitment to simultaneously work towards both high school and college credits during their high school career.

“Signing day was such a special moment for me as a principal,” said Torrez. “Witnessing this milestone is a testament to the Ehrhart School’s amazing educators. Our motto is ‘Dreams Start at Ehrhart.' Now, dreams can be achieved at Ehrhart in partnership with LIT.”

Leading up to the event, the students participated in a Summer Bridge Orientation Program, an immersive experience in college life designed to help prepare them for success before school starts. From the first day of meeting and welcoming these students at LIT Summer Bridge to their commitment on Signing Day, we are excited for this new partnership and proud to welcome our Ehrhart Eagles to the LIT campus, where they will become LIT Eagles,” said Michael Hatton, Director of Dual Credit.
