Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) announces the first cohort the Golden Eagle Ambassador Program. Five students have been selected to serve as the college's official student representatives.

The Golden Eagle Ambassador program aims to welcome and guide new and prospective students, while also fostering a strong sense of community within the campus.

"A Golden Eagle Ambassador is a student who is dedicated to their school and their studies, who has excellent interpersonal skills, who thrives in a leadership role and who is always willing to help," said Lindsey Grantham, LIT Student Life Coordinator. "The prospective Golden Eagle should also have at least a 3.0 GPA and no student code of conduct violations."

The ambassadors play a crucial role in introducing incoming students and their families to LIT. Their responsibilities include hosting formal functions, sharing personal experiences at LIT and acting as role models on campus.

"The goal of the program is to give students the opportunity to cultivate their leadership skills and help them develop professionally. We want to give students the opportunity to network with industry leaders and become involved with their school and community," Grantham said. "These students also help bridge the gap between the student body and administration by enhancing communication and mutual understanding."

Golden Eagle Ambassadors will receive a scholarship of $1,000 per semester. They also benefit from unique Golden Eagles apparel and opportunities to network with key industry leaders at various events.

To be considered for the program, students must complete an application and be interviewed by a committee.

"My hope is the Golden Eagle Ambassador Program will provide them with valuable leadership and collaborative skills that help them to be successful in anything they choose to do after leaving LIT," Grantham said. "I hope the Golden Eagles' leave this program with a better sense of community than when they started."
